Huntington council orders removal of broken rodeo-grounds railing after safety concerns

Council members agreed to remove the broken stand section immediately, post signage warning users that the track is unsafe and used at their own risk, and develop a schedule to remove or replace the remainder of the railing when resources allow. A local volunteer and a certified welder will assist with the initial removal and repairs; councilors emphasized this is a temporary measure while a permanent plan is developed.
One councilor noted that if sections are removed but other parts remain exposed, the city would need to limit track use until a comprehensive plan is in place. The motion to remove the broken section passed with council approval; staff were directed to work with volunteers and return with a timeline and budget estimate for full removal and replacement.
