Levan — The Levan Town Council on Feb. 13 voted to buy a basic work truck, approved an amendment to a visibility-related town ordinance and granted multiple building permits, the council chair said.
The council approved a motion to purchase a used 2024-model work truck from Young Chevrolet "if it's still available," after discussing bids prepared by town staff and noting the town had been leasing a vehicle at "about $10,000 a year." Council members said the town will split the purchase cost across enterprise funds. "Is there any opposed? The motion carries," the chair said after a voice vote.
The purchases came alongside an ordinance amendment to correct a sentence fragment in the town code’s obstruction-of-view language. The amendment was identified by the planning and zoning commission and handled through the required hearing process; council members moved, seconded and adopted Ordinance 02132025-001 by voice vote.
The council also approved an outbuilding permit for Jared Rosequist and a new-home permit for Nick Childs (tentative address 155 North 100 West), both of which had passed planning commission review and inspector sign-off. The fence-permit item on the agenda was tabled until next month because outstanding issues remain.
Why it matters: The truck purchase is a practical budget decision prompted by the cost of leasing; the ordinance amendment removes a textual flaw that planning staff said could generate confusion during code enforcement and permitting.
