White Sanitation noted second-container charges and a $4 landfill fee that covers disposal costs to the regional landfill.
Council members discussed fairness for fixed-income households, administrative convenience for billing, and regional comparisons (other towns pay up to $13.80 monthly for a single can in one cited example). After public input the council agreed to place contract ratification on the July agenda and staff said the town could adopt the incremental approach to reduce near-term pressure on residents while preserving long-term revenue parity. White Sanitation representatives said service levels would remain the same under both options and that fuel surcharges would be applied transparently when necessary.
Staff will return a final contract for council action at the July meeting.
