Mayfield โ The Town Council on Wednesday adopted Ordinance 2025-2 to establish minimum sizes for culverts and to set maintenance expectations for drainage features in town.
Officials said the ordinance responds to a heavy rain event that nearly flooded a house near Canyon Road after small, undersized culverts restricted flow. The ordinance sets minimum diameters at specified cross sections (staff cited 30 inches at a low crossing and 24 inches in other segments) and requires future development to meet the standard so downstream flow is managed.
Council moved to approve the ordinance as amended; members said the measure will guide future private development and give town staff a consistent standard to require when new culverts are installed.
