The Meadow Planning and Zoning Commission briefly reviewed an updated draft of a proposed short-term rental (Airbnb) ordinance but decided not to finalize it tonight.
"Not much has happened since last month," Speaker 1 said, and the group agreed to wait until the subdivision ordinance edits are complete. Commissioner Speaker 3 cautioned that short-term rentals must "fit into the general scheme of the zoning ordinance," noting the permitted-use table in the residential chapter may need amending to list short-term rentals as allowed uses in the appropriate zone(s).
Members discussed whether the short-term rental rules should apply to one or both residential zones and emphasized that any change to the zoning table requires an amendment and a dated record of that amendment. The commission agreed to revisit short-term rental language after the subdivision ordinance and zoning chapters are synchronized and after attorney review if necessary.
Next steps: hold the short-term rental ordinance for further edits, ensure compatibility with the zoning permitted-use table, and schedule consideration after the subdivision ordinance is finalized.
