Town staff explained the revenue assumptions and key figures during the hearing, saying the draft budget projects $282,347 in town revenue — including $160,000 in sales tax, $40,000 in B&C road funds, $16,000 in other intergovernmental sales‑tax pieces, $10,000 in building permits and modest remaining revenues — and projected expenditures of $525,008.47. Staff said the Municipal Services District (MSD) will contribute $243,500 to balance the budget for the coming year.
"We're anticipating receiving $160,000 in sales tax revenue," staff said while reviewing line items, and noted a new election support services line (roughly $6,447) for the election year plus an increased contribution for the town’s centennial celebration. The council heard there was also a $100,000 MSD allocation for parks and $20,000 for the centennial.
Following standard public‑hearing procedure, a councilmember moved to approve the budget as presented. The motion, seconded, passed unanimously on a voice vote.
Staff said they will forward the adopted budget to the MSD and that the town remains conservative in projections to retain flexibility for unexpected needs. No amendments were made at the meeting; the council and staff signaled they will continue to monitor revenues and expenditures through the fiscal year.
