Public works reported on March 6 that the town's SCADA system has been commissioned and allows remote pump starts/stops and tank-level monitoring from a phone. The new flow meter and tank-level indicators are visible in the system. Council heard that a prairie-dog survey for the well/tank site is scheduled for April 1 and must be completed before well construction proceeds.
Staff also updated the council on meter-reading and billing: recently ordered new meters require programming of the handheld reader and vendor assistance; the express bill-pay vendor estimated an 8–11 week timeline before the service can go live. The lead-and-copper compliance contract with Sunrise was extended to 2029 to continue compliance work.
Council members discussed recent repairs (a broken 6-inch pipe found and fixed) and noted ongoing work to reconcile meter-reader equipment with new meters. Staff said they will schedule vendor programming assistance and report back with firm timelines.
