Bicknell approves new town signs, awards bid to local vendor

The town's Beautification Committee presented competitive bids and sketches for new town signs. Two vendors submitted proposals; McCoy's bid included fabrication, powder coating, installation and removal of the existing painted signs. Committee members recommended selecting McCoy for replacement signs at town entry points and parks. Council discussed which signs to prioritize (including the large "welcome" signs) and where to store removed painted signs.
After discussion a council member moved to approve the new signs and the motion was seconded. The council approved the purchase by voice vote, with the condition that the purchase be budgeted and that Beverly provide final placement approval. McCoy will deliver and, if requested, unbolt and store the replaced painted signs for the town.
No dollar amounts or contract documents were finalized publicly at the March 6 meeting; staff said they would follow up with vendor details and ensure installation meets town requirements.
