Travel board funds Brad Anderson customer-service training and seeks state reimbursement

Emery County’s travel board voted Feb. 11 to fund a half-day customer-service training hosted in Green River, and to apply for a state Custom Fit reimbursement to defray costs.
Staff described the offer: Brad Anderson, a trainer who has worked with nearby destination marketing organizations, will lead a roughly 9 a.m.–noon session on March 24. The instructor fee is $2,800; staff said manuals cost $12 per participant and the session was initially capped at 25 people but the board agreed to allow up to 35. "The cost for the class is $2,800 ... and then we would also need to pay $12 per participant for the manuals," a staff member said.
The board approved up to $3,500 to cover the instructor fee, travel and participant materials with priority registration for TRT/TRCC businesses and the option to open remaining seats to other businesses and interested high-school classes. Separately, the board approved applying to Utah State University Eastern’s Custom Fit program, which staff said can reimburse up to half of eligible training costs.
Why it matters: the training is intended to improve visitor-facing customer service across tourism-related businesses and county employees, which bureau staff said improves visitor experience and local business reputation.
Next steps: staff will finalize the instructor contract, open registration, and file the Custom Fit reimbursement application.
