Bacon described the program as a partnership with the local chamber that would distribute coupon packs to event attendees; the bureau would reimburse the chamber for redeemed coupons and promotional materials for an initial trial run. "If there is no discussion, I'd make a motion to approve reimbursing $1,500 for the businesses for this program," Bacon said during the meeting.
Organizers framed the plan as a low-risk pilot: reimbursement would occur only when coupons were redeemed in participating businesses, and staff asked that organizers file a post‑event report so the board can evaluate impact. The request came as part of a set of spring and summer event proposals aimed at boosting tourism and overnight stays.
The motion was seconded and advanced to a roll-call vote; the board recorded members responding in the affirmative during roll call and the bureau approved the reimbursement. Staff and organizers were instructed to provide a follow-up report after the event.
