Mayor Pat introduced the item under the city's code (cited in the meeting as section “1 9 b 4”) and described the required auction procedure: a public notice, a 10-day posting period and an itemized listing of goods to be sold. Mayor Pat said the council may consider changing the procedure for low-dollar items to avoid a full auction for minor-value items.
Council members listed items expected to be offered: assorted water meters (3/4-inch, 1-1/2-inch and 2-inch), a 2001 Dodge Dakota (six-cylinder), various metal storage tanks including a water tank and a propane tank, and other miscellaneous items. A community member identified as Sam was named as a likely buyer for water meters for a robotics class he teaches.
An unidentified council member moved to appoint the city manager as disposal agent; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously among those present. The council then moved and approved a separate motion authorizing sale of surplus equipment/property by auction (the meeting referenced the procedure as city code “1 9 b 5”).
The council instructed staff to follow the notice and posting requirements before conducting the auction.
