Levan planning commission unanimously recommends minor wording change to fence ordinance

The Levan Planning Commission voted unanimously on Feb. 5, 2025, to recommend a technical correction to the town’s land-management ordinance to the City Council.

The change concerns ordinance cited in the meeting as “16 10, 60 or 0 6 0 section f.” Staff described the edit as three small drafting fixes: remove a period, add the word “or,” and change an uppercase letter to lowercase. The commission’s facilitator said the change is intended as a correction to clarify existing code language and asked that the City Council review the amendment.

Commissioners framed the action as a routine housekeeping correction rather than a substantive policy change. A commissioner moved to forward the recommended correction, a second was recorded, and the commission voted unanimously in favor of sending the recommendation to City Council for review.

The recommendation will appear as an item for the City Council to review; the Planning Commission did not adopt any new standards or adopt the ordinance itself at the Feb. 5 meeting.

The Planning Commission also reminded the public that broader land-management and development-code amendments have been the subject of recent public hearings and that additional technical corrections may follow as staff and commissioners refine the language.

Next step: the City Council will receive the Planning Commission’s recommendation for its regular review process.
