After insurance denial, Huntington council postpones cemetery fence repairs

HUNTINGTON — The Huntington City Council on Oct. 15 postponed repairs to a cemetery fence after the city's insurer denied a claim, saying there was no proof the damage was caused by an impact.
Council members said the fence appears to have settled and that the city needs to inspect the site and identify repair methods that will prevent future settling before proceeding. "Before we proceed on getting that repaired, we need to kinda look at it, see what we can do to make it so the fence don't settle," a council member said.
A motion to postpone the cemetery fence repair until the city has a clearer plan passed by voice vote (motion made by Judd Beagley and seconded by Lisa Miller). The council asked staff to inspect the fence and return with recommendations in the coming months.
