The commission opened a public hearing on the plan and, after review, members asked staff to remove a lower-angle road segment and extend a set of 'green' road alignments down to the canal to create continuous connections. Speaker 3 argued the edits would "connect everything" and make the layout "make more sense," and staff confirmed the plan is intended as a guiding document rather than an absolute requirement.
Speaker 1 moved to send the plan, Speaker 3 offered the motion to transmit it with the proposed corrections and Speaker 4 seconded; the chair called for a voice vote and the motion was adopted. Speaker 9 (staff) said Maddie would make the requested map corrections before the Council packet is prepared.
Why it matters: the Transportation Master Plan guides where the city expects future streets and connections to be located and it informs subdivision reviews and developer expectations. Changes to road alignments on the map can affect lot layouts, required right-of-way dedications, and related impact fees.
The commission's recommendation will be considered by the City Council at a future meeting; staff will prepare the corrected maps for the Council packet.
