At the April 8, 2025 meeting in Green River, the chair of the Emery County Travel Board announced that, following a recently adopted bylaw change, he will step down from the chair role but remain on the board.
The chair said the bylaw change — approved at a prior meeting and affirmed at the county commission — removes the commissioner-over-travel automatic chair assignment and allows the board to select its own chair. The chair thanked board members for their support and clarified the resignation was not personal. The board proceeded to accept nominations and moved to close nominations and fill leadership positions. Following nominations, Travis accepted the vice chair role and the board confirmed him by acclamation and a recorded roll call.
No formal contested vote for chair was recorded that day; the board’s administrative transition will be reflected in future agendas and staff communications.
