Trails funding expanded; BLM Wedge Overlook plan heads to public scoping

The travel office reported the county was awarded an OHTBR grant to continue funding trails crew positions and to purchase needed equipment. Staffing changes meant that the trails crew will expand to three members to increase project resilience and ensure work continues even when staff are out of town.
Amanda also told the board the Bureau of Land Management is preparing a development plan and public scoping for the Wedge Overlook, describing campground enhancements, connector trails and some closures to protect resource values and to improve visitor experience. The BLM will hold an open house and the travel board asked members to be aware and participate in public scoping when dates are announced.
Board members noted the Wedge is heavily used and emphasized that consistent planning and modest infrastructure investments tend to protect resources while improving access. The travel board agreed staff will circulate scoping dates and materials when they are available so board members can provide informed comments.
