Feasibility report fuels plan for Green River event center; Farrin arena replacement moves forward

Wren told the Emery County Travel Board the feasibility study for a proposed Green River recreational and event center has been delivered and well received by the community. The study outlined three potential build sizes (interchangeable courts, a track, and configurable floor space) and recommended next steps; RFPs for final design and build planning are expected to issue within weeks.
Separately, Amanda and other members summarized progress on the Farrin arena replacement project: schematic design completed in May 2025; preconstruction engineering slated for August 2025; projected final occupancy in May 2026. The proposed facility would be roughly 27,600 square feet with bleacher seating for about 1,000 and adjacent support spaces intended to make the venue suitable for stock shows, rodeos and other agricultural and community events. Project leaders are pursuing Community Impact Board (CIB) funding and private donors to support construction.
Board members said the community’s response to the feasibility study has been positive and noted the travel board’s role is to advise on tourism impacts and potential funding partnerships; no formal commitment of the travel board’s special project budget was made at this meeting.
