Mayfield approves three-month paperless-billing incentive starting Jan. 1

On Dec. 10 the Mayfield Town Council approved a temporary paperless-billing incentive designed to encourage residents to receive utility bills electronically. Town staff (Kristen, Speaker 8) explained mailing costs of about $1.06 per household and proposed a $1 credit to customers who sign up for paperless billing.
Council members discussed program details — whether the incentive should expire, how to track written requests and how auto-pay will interact with the program — and agreed on a three-month promotional window. Speaker 3 moved to proceed with electronic billing and a $1 credit for three months (Jan. 1–Mar. 31); Speaker 7 seconded and the motion was approved by voice vote.
Staff will publish enrollment information in the town newsletter, maintain a written record of sign-up requests and present final program rules for formal ordinance or policy adoption if needed at a subsequent meeting.
