The Mayfield Town Council on Jan. 14 agreed to delay adopting internal accessory dwelling unit (ADU) regulations after staff advised that a preexisting town ordinance currently bans ADUs. Councilors said the ban must be amended or the ordinance replaced before adopting rules that would allow internal ADUs, and they moved the item to the February meeting to reconcile local code with state guidance.
At the same meeting the council approved a resolution to appoint members and alternates to the planning commission. The resolution nominated Adam Peterson, Steve Anderson, Ross Doodler and Tyler Jensen to four‑year terms (expiring Dec. 2028) and named Annie Chris Jackson and Jared Peterson as one‑year alternates (terms expiring Dec. 31, 2026). Council members said appointing alternates should reduce difficulty in achieving quorums at planning‑commission meetings.
What’s next: Council asked staff to review the existing ordinance for conflicts with state law and to return with a proposed amendment or replacement ordinance in February; newly appointed planning-commission members will be sworn and the commission will elect a chair at its first meeting.
