White Sanitation briefs Mayfield council on cleanup schedule, landfill rules

Chet White of White Sanitation visited the council Jan. 14 to reintroduce the hauler’s annual community cleanup plans and answer operational questions.
White said the town’s cleanup last year ran April 4–14 and proposed a similar two‑week window this spring, suggesting the town keep the early-April schedule. He emphasized landfill sorting rules: metal must be separated from regular rubbish, and some items (tires, refrigerators) may carry disposal charges at the county landfill. White said common car tires without rims are typically charged about $6–$12 per tire and larger agricultural tires may cost substantially more.
Councilors and White discussed handling of mixed dumpsters and how the landfill’s stricter inspection last year led to extra charges for some municipalities. White offered that the hauler will continue to provide two free town loads to help manage costs and that the company can schedule additional pickups for a fee.
What’s next: White said the hauler will be available to coordinate the spring cleanup and asked to be notified of a work-meeting date so staff and council can finalize dates and collection logistics.
