Daggett County MBA hears updates on Dutch John water plant and clinic; CIB approves reimbursement

The Daggett County Municipal Building Authority on Jan. 13 received progress reports on two county construction projects and confirmation that the Community Investment Board approved a reimbursement request.

Randy, who reported to the board during the correspondence portion of the meeting, said the county met with the CIB and “made a request for reimbursement, which they approved and gave us the go ahead” to cover extra costs tied to water mitigation at the clinic site. He said CIB members were particularly attentive to the county’s groundwater issues and the need to address them so the site remains usable.

On the Dutch John water treatment plant, a board member reported work is continuing but noted a minor slowdown caused by equipment-ordering issues for treatment support systems; interior construction is underway. On the county clinic project, Randy said windows are installed, doors are expected soon, site material has been placed and compacted and compaction testing was performed. Patty was asked to confirm how many test spots were checked; the meeting record notes that the tests that were done passed.

The board discussed that the CIB emphasized the county’s water needs and encouraged continued work to ensure the improvements are durable and broadly beneficial. Members also discussed local representation on the CIB board and transition timing tied to senate confirmation for future appointees.

No formal action was taken on the projects other than the acknowledgements and updates; the board will continue oversight as the construction and reimbursement processes proceed.
