Daggett County emergency management completes floodplain mapping phases; mitigation plan approved regionally

"We completed the kickoff meetings, and your maps are in for submittal for the update on your flood plain mapping," Michelle said. She added that phases 2 and 3 are done, that the mitigation plan has been approved for the region and that a local preview of the mapping work will be held Dec. 4 at the city offices (noted as county-focused because one phase remains outstanding for the county).
Michelle said the county identified staging areas for commodity distribution and that the state is working on catastrophic planning guidance. She reported that an EMPG grant application has been submitted and that SHSP reimbursements are up to date; Kitty Leonard is working on remaining items and further staff meetings are planned.
The briefing included a request from Michelle for commission participation in continued ICS training next year; commissioners asked staff to circulate where they left off and to calendar additional ICS courses if practical.
The commission did not take formal action on the mapping or grants during the meeting; Michelle indicated follow-up meetings and additional course scheduling would be coordinated with staff.
