Leonard, speaking for the sheriff’s department, said the purchase relates to a grant that originally totaled about $35,000 and covers a trailer and first‑response equipment for hazardous‑material incidents. The commission approved purchase of equipment from Western Firefighting Equipment on state contract for $6,750.24.
The commission also considered a Daggett County Road Department invoice for $2,688.58 for use of a water truck and compactor at the rodeo grounds. Commissioners discussed possible funding sources, including the transient room tax (TRT) Daggett designation and the commission’s event line items. They approved reimbursing the B‑road fund for work at the rodeo grounds and directed staff to pay the $2,688.58 from the Daggett designation line item under the commission’s budget.
Every motion reported at the meeting carried with affirmative votes. No motions to table or to withhold funding were recorded. The approved items are routine operational expenditures and short‑term capital requests; the hazmat equipment purchase is intended to improve first‑response capability for potential hazardous‑material spills in the community.
The commission did not set conditions beyond standard procurement and signoff; staff indicated the purchase will be routed for signatures and the road reimbursement will be processed through the designated account.
