Daggett County MBA hears progress report on health business and community center; change orders not yet ready

The Authority was told compaction tests for needed materials have returned acceptable results, but contractors have been instructed not to place "big rock" in backfill after tests noted issues. "They both little tests come back," Unidentified Speaker 2 said, adding that crews "made note of not allowing any of the big rock to be put in there." The comment indicates ongoing quality-control checks on foundation and backfill work.
Officials also noted that the pipeline has not yet been installed. Unidentified Speaker 2 said the fire department had asked for that work to be completed to avoid disruption to emergency vehicle access: "the fire department wanted to get that done so they can not have any disruption in service with the fire truck." The meeting record shows the pipeline remains an outstanding item.
On policy and legislation matters related to the project, Unidentified Speaker 1 stated there were change orders outstanding but none ready for approval at this meeting. "There are a couple of outstanding change orders that I think are being processed, but I'm not aware that they're ready for approval today," Unidentified Speaker 1 said. No formal change-order approvals were adopted by the Authority at the Oct. 7 session.
The Authority did not set a resolution or timeline for approving the pending change orders during this meeting. Next steps noted in the discussion include continued processing of change orders by staff and follow-up in future Authority or related Redevelopment Agency meetings. The MBA adjourned at 09:36 and returned to the commission and RDA meeting for further business.
