Neighborhoods Committee approves redevelopment, appropriations and multiple ordinances

Beyond two headline items, the Neighborhoods Committee advanced a slate of redevelopment, appropriations and ordinance items on Jan. 20.

Representatives for MOSH told the committee they will restore a previously proposed reduction in parking and commit to the originally requested minimum of 75 spaces. The committee adopted an amendment restoring that requirement and extended the construction commitment from March to September with an optional six‑month extension from DIA; the bill (20250841) passed as amended.

The committee also moved a series of routine items (ordinance and appropriations items 20250890, 20250891, 20250893, 20250894 and 20250896), each carried by recorded votes (6–0). Councilmember Tyrone Clark Murray secured $41,100 from a special council contingency to fund title and environmental work on a potential park site; committee members asked staff about an apparent discrepancy between a seller’s purchase-and-sale price and the city’s appropriation; staff explained the city is paying a price that sits between two independent appraisals and that the sale involves an intermediate purchaser.

The committee also approved an emergency amendment clarifying developer repayment language on a second‑reading package and concluded the agenda; the chair adjourned the meeting.
