Camille Erickson, the other candidate interviewed, described her experience as a certified public accountant and volunteer in canyon flood response. Erickson told the council she would bring budgeting and financial expertise and that she understands the time commitment required of council service.
The council followed a procedure set out at the meeting: non-interviewed candidates were asked to wait outside, each candidate delivered a five-minute statement and council members asked follow-up questions. Janet Haskell, the third candidate, was not present despite the council’s attempts to contact her and later indicated she had withdrawn.
After the vote was tallied, the council administered the oath and had Griffith sign both a ceremonial copy and the record copy of the oath. The oath was repeated aloud and witnessed by council members and staff. Council members welcomed Griffith and assigned him a seat so he could participate in votes immediately.
