Scofield approves training reimbursement and two-year commitment for weekend sewer hauler

Scofield Town Council on Jan. 12 approved an employment agreement for a weekend sewer-haul operator, accepting terms that would reimburse the employee for required CDL training (Class B with H endorsement) in exchange for a two-year service commitment.
Under the agreement, the town would reimburse documented training and licensure costs (discussed figures ranged from about $1,480 to $1,800) after the employee obtains the license; weekend compensation was set at a minimum of $180 per day (three loads at $60 per load), with drive time paid at $24 per hour. If the employee resigns or is terminated for cause before completing two years, the employee must reimburse the unamortized portion of the training costs.
Council members confirmed the agreement had been reviewed by the town attorney and approved the terms by motion. Staff will proceed with onboarding once paperwork and training arrangements are finalized.
