Emery County adopts service-animal policy to align with federal ADA rules

The Emery County Commission on Oct. 7 adopted a resolution establishing a county service-animal policy designed to align county practice with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
A county representative explained the resolution would set rules for service animals in county public buildings, noting that while service animals have been used in county buildings successfully at times, questions have arisen and a formal policy would provide clarity and compliance with federal law.
The motion to adopt the resolution was made, seconded and passed by the commission. The resolution is intended to standardize how the county treats service animals and to provide staff and the public with guidance going forward.
