At the start of the Nov. 19 meeting, the council acknowledged a member’s resignation and directed staff to initiate a vacancy-advertisement process. The presiding official said the council needs to acknowledge the resignation letter and publish a notice so residents can submit applications.
Council members suggested that, in addition to a resume, applicants answer three or four brief questions about how they view ongoing projects and their priorities for the council seat. One councilmember asked staff to create a short application form listing basic biographical information, reasons for seeking the seat and views on key projects; the matter will return to the newly seated council for appointment as required by the city’s selection process.
No candidate selection was made at the meeting; staff were directed to post the vacancy notice and application form once prepared.
