Residents used the Sept. 9 public-comment period to press the Green River City Council on a range of long-standing local issues, including billboard branding, highway lighting and downtown parking.
One resident (Speaker 6) told council she is "sad" that recent wraps on city-owned billboards display imagery and links that do not identify Green River; she asked how the lease was awarded and whether lease revenue returned to the city. Council/staff said the lessee paid for installation and the wraps are covered by a three-year lease; staff said the city waived installation costs because the company paid for the install.
Other commenters urged the council to pursue lighting at highway exits into Green River, raised maintenance concerns about city buildings and the cemetery culvert, and asked that the city marquee promote activities at the local museum. Several downtown business owners cautioned that any Broadway redesign must preserve traffic flow, loading and curbside parking. A longtime Broadway business owner said the council should include stalwart local business owners in steering committees and urged the project team to avoid designs that would remove crucial parking.
Council members and staff acknowledged the concerns and said many items (lighting, maintenance, signage) are being researched or coordinated with state or county partners. Staff asked commenters to stay engaged in upcoming project workshops and offered to advertise steering-committee and public-input meetings.
