A council member reported the Blackhawk Commission and Jake Vaughn offered the used chutes and that comparable new equipment would cost substantially more; the proposer said buying the used chutes would save the town roughly $77,500 compared with new purchases. The council discussed logistics of transport and installation, including using town equipment and inmate labor for setting the chutes in the ground.
A motion to purchase the two chutes, including back gates, for $3,000 was moved and seconded and the motion passed by recorded Aye votes at the meeting. Council members asked staff to coordinate pickup and installation and to notify the Blackhawk Commission of the town’s decision.
The purchase will be paid from the parks and recreation/equipment budget line as directed by staff.
