USG notifies Sigurd it will idle wallboard line; up to 55 jobs affected

Alving read parts of the notice aloud and told the council the company attributed the decision to increased manufacturing costs and reduced demand. The mayor said the town would monitor the situation and noted that staff had received the company's letter.
Council members expressed concern about local employment impacts and asked staff to track any follow-up from the company and available state unemployment or placement services.
