Commission hears updates on water plant, DEQ sewer grant, clinic construction and housing site work

Daggett County officials reported progress on several local infrastructure projects during the meeting, including the municipal water treatment plant, a DEQ sewer grant, clinic construction and ongoing work at an affordable-housing site.
Trevor Sherry, reporting on the water project, said "The construction project on the water treatment plant is moving forward," adding that exterior concrete work and electrical and HVAC installations "should be finishing up" next week and that the plant is "on track to be ready to start up in December" for disinfection and sampling.
On sewer funding, Trevor said the DEQ has requested a contract between the county and the engineers. "The engineers are working on that paperwork to get it correct so that we can get it to the attorney to get it reviewed and get that step started on that funding," he said, describing the grant as intended for manhole additions and sewer line repairs within the town system.
Chair Jack updated the commission on the county clinic, reporting that contractors struck an unmarked sewer line that has since been repaired and that the building is framed and sheathed: "They're putting the sheeting on. Going pretty looks like a building now." Commissioners noted the clinic team experienced trenching challenges but proceeded after repairs.
Affordable-housing preparations were discussed briefly: staff indicated the contractor work is finishing dirt work but that volunteers have not yet been contacted to help and that water and sewer hookups must be completed before volunteer construction can begin.
What’s next: county staff will finalize the DEQ contract paperwork for attorney review and continue construction activities; the commission will be updated as permits, sample testing, or grant steps proceed.
