Town approves moving Souptown Days to Labor Day weekend, signs off on permits and grade changes

The Audible Town Board on a voice vote agreed to move its signature community festival, Souptown Days, from April to Labor Day weekend beginning in 2026 and approved several routine permits and personnel-grade changes.

At the meeting the board moved, seconded and approved the change to Souptown Days after organizers said the later date would be easier to staff and would avoid occasional conflicts with spring holidays. "I think it's a good weekend for it," one councilmember said during debate.

The board also approved a conditional-use permit for Flint LLC to operate a vacation rental at the address listed in the application; that item had passed through Planning and Zoning with no objections. Separately, the council approved two business licenses: Flint LLC and Spirit of Adventures Tours (applicant Don Heath). Members noted past practice and state requirements when approving alcohol-related or hospitality operations.

In personnel business, the council voted to amend the pay-grade ranges for the treasurer (adjusting the grade range upward) and for the town clerk (expanding the clerk grade range to allow steps 19–23). Council members said the change is intended to keep pay competitive and allow future raises; no immediate salary increases were granted.

No roll-call tallies were recorded in the public transcript; each vote was taken by voice with the chair calling for "Aye" or "Any opposed." Motion language and outcomes recorded in the minutes included: change to Souptown Days (motion approved), conditional-use permit for Flint LLC (approved), business licenses (approved), and job grade amendments (approved).
