Mayfield enacts voter-approved RAP sales tax to fund parks and cultural programs

The Mayfield Town Council adopted Ordinance 2025-6 on Dec. 10 to enact a voter-approved continuation of the town’s recreation, arts and parks (RAP) sales-and-use tax. Council members read the ordinance into the record and approved the measure by voice vote after confirming the measure’s scope and voter approval.
According to the ordinance language read aloud at the meeting, Proposition 10 was approved by Mayfield voters in the Nov. 4, 2025 election and authorizes a local sales-and-use tax of one-tenth of one percent to fund recreation, arts, parks, cultural and botanical facilities and programs within Mayfield. The ordinance says the tax will take effect on the date established by the Utah State Tax Commission after proper filing and certification.
Councilmembers recorded their approval by voice vote after the ordinance was read; no amendments were proposed at the meeting.
What’s next: Town staff will complete the filing and certification steps with the Utah State Tax Commission so the tax may be implemented per state procedures.
