The Garfield County Planning Commission approved three conditional-use permits for short-term rentals after staff reported that inspections had been completed and that most operators had submitted required business-license paperwork.
Caden, a county staff member, said the county’s host-compliance review identified about a dozen noncompliant short-term rentals in unincorporated areas; after letters were sent, most owners responded and inspections were completed. Caden said he felt “good about all 3 of them” who had submitted conditional-use permit applications and passed inspection.
Commissioners moved and seconded to approve the three permits as presented and recorded a voice vote in favor. Staff noted a small number of short-term rentals elsewhere remain noncompliant and that some applications are pending state tax-account numbers needed for full licensing.
The planning commission’s action clears local land-use approval for the three properties; operators must complete any outstanding licensing steps and comply with conditions attached to their permits.
