Summary
Board members said the Duchesne branch grand opening will be April 12 at the Roosevelt Library; USU Extension and the senior center will provide refreshments and activities, and a mailer and staffing plan are in development.
The Duchesne County Library Board discussed final plans for the Duchesne branch grand opening, scheduled for April 12, during its March 18 meeting at the Roosevelt Library.
Daniel Lockley described coordination with Utah State University Extension and the local senior center to provide refreshments and activities. "They're gonna meet tomorrow... we'll certainly do some activities and the staff will be there," Lockley said as he outlined plans for a mailer and on‑site programming.
Board members and staff discussed timing and staffing: organizers expect to open around 10 a.m. and to staff the event for about two hours of peak activity, with outreach tables and volunteer support. Staff noted they may temporarily close the branch so Duchesne staff can support the opening and that the Roosevelt staff will host.
Lockley said the senior center offered to provide hors d'oeuvres and cookies and that outreach partners would finalize plans in an upcoming coordination meeting. No formal board action was required at the meeting.
The board encouraged staff to notify partners and to share any needs for supplies or volunteers ahead of the April event.
