Corinne council approves $22,000 purchase of refurbished AED/monitor units for fire department

The Corinne City Council voted to purchase two refurbished LIFEPAK cardiac monitors/AED units for about $22,000 total to replace aging Philips monitors that have been difficult to service and calibrate.
Vaughn, speaking for the fire department, said servicing the existing units required long turnaround times and presented a quote: “I was given a quote on 2 refurbished life packs, of $22,000, for the pair of them,” and contrasted that with a new-unit price of about $45,000 apiece. Vaughn said the refurbished monitors would be compatible with neighboring Brigham City units and that the dealer would take the old monitors as trade-in and provide a service contract.
Council members confirmed funding was available in the current budget and moved to approve the purchase. Tom Little moved to approve the purchase; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
Why it matters: the monitors are frontline emergency medical equipment; having locally serviceable and interoperable monitors improves emergency response capabilities and reduces extended out-of-service time for the city’s apparatus.
Next steps: staff will complete a dealer agreement and arrange trade-in/service with the vendor identified by the fire department.
