Commission approves new stop signs in Color Country Subdivision to curb speeding

The commission approved placing three three-way stop signs and one four-way stop in the Color Country Subdivision to address reported speeding and safety concerns.
Roads staff described meetings with the homeowners association and the sheriff’s office; the proposed locations were chosen to reduce high speeds on long straight stretches and to avoid placing a stop at the bottom of a hill where snow and winter traction are concerns. The Cedar Mountain Special Service District contributes funding and performs snow removal and dust control in the area.
Commissioners voted unanimously to place the signs and noted the homeowners association is pursuing permits for ditch and culvert cleaning to improve drainage.
Roads staff said the county is moving toward asking subdivisions that retain internal roads to assume ownership where appropriate, but that these particular roads remain county-maintained for now.
