A Centi Wave representative told the Corinne City Council the company has been selected by the state to bring fiber to underserved parts of Box Elder County and requested permission to enter a franchise agreement to build within Corinne city limits.
"We have been selected by the state to to bring fiber to rural Box Elder County," Brian (Papworth) said, describing planned routes through Plain City, up the Willard bench and into Bear River City and Corinne. He said Centi Wave offers a fixed‑wireless service and plans to connect residents within the city once sewer and other projects provide right‑of‑way opportunities. The presenter emphasized local staffing, 24‑hour tech support and a commitment to restoration after construction.
Councilmembers had questions about what the city needs to provide; the presenter said no financial contribution is required and the company would work with the permitting department and existing public utility easements as needed. Council directed staff to add the franchise agreement to a future agenda for formal consideration and possible approval.
