Council approves Robber's Roost trail group using county signs, asks coordination with road department and BLM

Brett Stewart of Utah OHV Advocates and Catherine, president of the Robber's Roost Trail Committee, asked the Emery County Public Lands Council for permission to place Robber's Roost stickers on existing county signs (or add signs where necessary) along routes that already exist on the ground. The presenters said the system would not establish new roads but would help users stay on established county B and D roads and reduce off-route travel.
"We'll supply all the materials," Stewart said, offering to install and maintain stickers and add county road numbers if the county prefers. Catherine said the markers would be roughly every two miles to reassure users they are on the correct loop and that the committee would produce downloadable maps with barcodes for phones.
Council members asked the presenters to coordinate with the county road department on numbering and to confirm BLM approval where signs fall in federal right-of-way. The motion that the county recommend permission to the commission and coordinate with the road and BLM agencies passed unanimously.
Next steps: Committee and county staff will meet after the council meeting to draft recommended wording and routing instructions; the council will forward a recommendation to the county commission and request the road department and BLM sign-off.
