At the Jan. 5 Daniel Town Council meeting, the mayor read a planning commission report summarizing actions taken at the commission’s Dec. 17 meeting.
The report said Brian Myers added a third parcel (parcel number 2040492) to his request to rezone property from RA‑5 to commercial; with the added parcel the contiguous acreage exceeds five acres and the area runs from Highway 40 down to Little Sweden Road. The planning commission delayed scheduling a public hearing on that zone change so the applicant can provide additional information.
The report also noted that Jamie McGuire’s application for an accessory building was approved. Jared Howland’s request for a boundary change on a Staker Parsons property was sent back to him to obtain additional information and adjacent‑owner approval; approval from the adjacent landowner in Daniel and from Independence Town Council will be required before the planning commission makes a recommendation to the council.
The planning commission informed the council of the Board of Appeals results from Dec. 10. An appeal by Melanie North (also referenced as Megan Phillips) regarding a lot‑of‑record determination for property on Little Sweden Road was denied. The Board of Appeals denied Geneva Rot Products’ request to increase a decibel limit for a proposed concrete batch plant in the industrial zone, although the parcel number and legal description will be adjusted as the applicant requested.
Council members asked clarifying questions about the parcels and the timing of future hearings; staff indicated additional documentation will be required before items return to the council.
