The Bismarck Planning and Zoning Commission approved a major planned‑unit‑development amendment for Meadow Village on Dec. 17 that reduces front‑yard setbacks for lots adjacent to Freiburg Lane from 25 feet to 15 feet.
Jenny, the city planner, told commissioners the request from Dakota Pioneer Land Company LLC applies to Lots 1–32 (Block 1) and Lots 1–39 (Block 2) of the Meadow Village Addition (about 11.37 acres). She said the change would not alter building types, densities, or the number of lots and that staff found the amendment consistent with the comprehensive plan, code of ordinances and state law. Notices were published and property owners were mailed postcards; staff reported no inquiries as of the meeting.
Applicant Arthur Goldhammer described the filing as a cleanup to reflect how the city treats that side yard as a front yard and said the amendment was not changing product types or densities. No members of the public spoke in opposition.
Commissioner Wagon moved to approve the amendment and Commissioner Johnson seconded; the Commission approved the motion on a roll call vote. The approval allows the developer to proceed with vertical construction consistent with the revised PUD standards and will be subject to subsequent building‑permit and site‑plan review.
