The agreement clarifies responsibilities such as salaries and deployment while preserving local control for routine responses. A motion to approve the mutual aid agreement was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
Later in the meeting, County Attorney Kent provided a legal update on an eminent domain/condemnation matter. Kent told the commission that a judge had signed an order allowing the county to proceed and that the county had filed an amended complaint. Kent said the office would file a motion for immediate occupancy the same day or the next and that a motion hearing could be scheduled in a matter of weeks. "The judge signed the order yesterday allowing us," Kent said. Kent advised the commission that the civil motion calendar usually moves on a matter of weeks rather than months for such filings.
Commissioners did not take additional action on the condemnation item at the meeting but planned standard follow up with legal counsel as the filings proceed.
