Daggett County approves advertising, rodeo and election-equipment contracts

Daggett County commissioners approved a set of purchase requests during their April 25, 2025 meeting, including an $18,000 advertising contract, a $14,750 rodeo services agreement and a $6,765 election-equipment renewal.

A motion to accept a purchase request and contract with Adams Publishing Group for $18,000 was made and approved by voice vote. The purchase was presented as an advertising agreement; commissioners did not amend the contract terms during the meeting.

The County then debated whether to assume administrative responsibility for the long-running Cow Country Rodeo after the local Lions Club stepped back. Commissioners discussed options including creating a committee or event board, continuing to use Tourism/TRT event funds, and pursuing sponsorships and ticket-sales revenue to offset costs. One commissioner framed the issue as a procedural question about how future events should be approved: whether each event should be handled administratively or brought to the commission for approval.

After discussion about funding and governance, the commission voted to approve a purchase request and related agreement with Broken Heart Rodeo Company for $14,750. The motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.

Separately, staff presented an invoice from Election Systems & Software LLC for annual warranties, licensing and maintenance of the county's election tabulation equipment. Commissioners noted similar invoices are paid annually and that the work is performed under a state contract. The commission approved the $6,765 purchase request for warranties and license renewal.
