Daggett County approves cash summary, invoices and conditional purchase for shooting‑range toilet

Daggett County commissioners on May 23 moved through routine financial items and approved two purchase requests related to improvements at the county shooting range.

The commission acknowledged receipt of the county and RDA cash summary dated May 23, 2025, and approved the open invoice register dated May 21, 2025, totaling $25,522.98. It also accepted the disbursement summary for May 15–21 in the amount of $109,843.72.

Gary Boyd presented competing bids for a pit‑toilet installation at the shooting range: $29,016 from Boom Concrete of Newell, South Dakota, and $68,083 from CTX in Hillsborough, Texas. Commissioners voted to approve the $29,016 purchase order to Boom Concrete on the condition that Tri County Health review and formally approve the unit and related plans. Darren of Tri County Health told the commission, "pit toilets require a permit from the health department," and staff agreed to send the health‑department documentation and plans before the county issues the order.

The commission also approved a quoted equipment rental of $15,398 for excavating machinery (a state purchasing contract); staff said actual use will likely be shorter and the final charge lower. Commissioners noted the work will be performed by volunteer equipment operators and that prior‑event operator paperwork should remain on file.

Both purchase requests were identified as part of a grant for shooting‑range improvements; commissioners said the purchases were within the grant budget and should proceed once the health‑department condition is satisfied.

The commission concluded the votes by approving the items by voice vote and moved on to the rest of the agenda.
