PRCA asks to store and use newly purchased bleachers; commissioners call for formal agreement

Mister Hank Goetz, speaking for PRCA, asked the commission for permission to store newly acquired bleachers on partner property and to use them temporarily for hospitality during upcoming events, including Labor Day. "We've got some things coming in, some supplies, bleachers, and things like that that we're trying to make deals on," Goetz said.
Goetz said the group is willing to pay for insurance and take steps to address liability: "There's a liability that comes into it somewhere along the line, probably gonna have to do some sort of insurance on it. I will pay," he said. Commissioners stressed coordinating with Randy Steinaker, a partner landowner, and County staff (Kent) to develop a memorandum of understanding or other formal agreement that clarifies insurance, setup costs and who controls gate receipts.
Discussion covered practical event conflicts (an August 9 concert), whether stands could remain in place for multiple events to reduce setup costs, and whether stands should be stored on the county'owned portion or PRCA property. Speaker 1 said PRCA would pay $38,000 and that owning the stands this year would be cheaper than the rental approach previously used; the group contrasted that $38,000 purchase with the much larger figure discussed earlier in a different context.
No formal county action was taken; the commission asked PRCA and staff to coordinate with Randy Steinaker, draft terms that address insurance and liability, and return with a proposed agreement.
