Commission reviews preliminary Green Acres and Lanceta sewer-line route and easement needs

Daggett County commissioners heard a preliminary presentation on proposed sewer improvements for the Green Acres and Lanceta (also shown in project exhibits as "Ilincetta") subdivisions during the June 23 meeting.

Engineering staff (Speaker 9) said the current concept routes new sewer line through a mix of airport-adjacent county property and private parcels. They asked the commission to note the plan and raised two principal requests: county support for acquiring permanent and temporary easements and preliminary coordination on any potential conflicts with airport expansion plans. "We would be looking for a 30 foot permanent easement, and then a 20 foot temporary construction easement," Speaker 9 said.

Engineers described the pipeline as an 8-inch gravity sewer and said the tentative construction window is spring of next year, with work possibly extending into the fall depending on weather and contractor scheduling. They noted the route runs close to the People's Canal pipeline and that design can likely place the sewer under that pipeline; wetland mapping showed minimal areas of standing water but staff asked the engineers to monitor groundwater and drainage risks.

Commissioners discussed possible impacts on future airport expansion. Speaker 9 suggested installing a carrier pipe during trenching to accommodate an anticipated runway extension so future work would not require disturbing a runway. No formal approvals were requested; engineers were presenting exhibits and asked for future coordination, surveying and right-of-way conversations before bringing a formal easement request or RFP to the commission.

Next steps: engineers will complete survey work and easement documents as needed, coordinate with airport planning and affected landowners, and return with formal easement requests and a proposed procurement schedule. No vote or binding commitment was taken at this meeting.
