Warren council approves $2.56 million appropriation for new library construction

Warren — The Warren City Council on Jan. 27 approved a $2,556,738 additional appropriation requested by the Library Commission to fund construction of a new library under bid ITBW 1478.
Earlier in the meeting the council also approved a small transfer of $2,550 between line items and an appropriation of $70,000 to cover contractual benefit increases and the purchase of a historic plaque for the historical commission.
The library appropriation was moved, supported and approved by roll call voice vote with all members present voting yes. Councilmembers offered no substantive opposition on the floor.
City staff did not provide additional project detail in the public discussion other than that the appropriation aligns with the awarded bid. The council approved the appropriation and moved on to subsequent agenda items.
Next steps: procurement and the library commission will proceed under the awarded bid and will report construction schedules and any further appropriation requests to council as required.
