Commission modifies two special-event alcohol licenses to include ready-to-drink beverages
Summary
The commission approved modifications to temporary special-event alcoholic beverage licenses to add ready-to-drink beverages for Amplify Music Festival (April 25–26) and the Decatur Arts Festival (May 2–4).
City staff requested modifications to previously approved temporary special-event alcoholic beverage licenses so the licensees could sell ready-to-drink (RTD) alcoholic beverages in addition to beer and wine. The requested modifications apply to Amplify Music Festival (licensee: Amplify My Community) April 25–26 and the Decatur Arts Festival produced by the Decatur Arts Alliance (licensee: Premier Events) May 2–4.
Staff explained the prior ordinance update allowed ready-to-drink beverages and that the recommended license modifications would add RTD sales to the events already approved for beer and wine. The commission moved, seconded and approved the license modifications in one vote.
Why it matters: The approvals allow event organizers an expanded alcoholic beverage offering for two large downtown events, subject to standard event licensing and local ordinance provisions.
